Digital Transformation with Impact: How Compu-Stor’s partnership with Ability Works Australia is helping transition people with disabilities into employment, and how you can make a difference.
Empowering Inclusion
At Compu-Stor, we believe in the power of inclusivity and providing opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background or challenges. For the past 14 months, we’ve been privileged to collaborate with Ability Works Australia, a non-profit National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service provider, dedicated to helping people with disabilities gain mainstream employment through practical and paid work.
Our Partnership with Ability Works
Compu-Stor’s partnership with Ability Works Australia is centred around our Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) within our scanning bureau. The current members of the Ability Works team—Alison, Dom, and Tori—have become integral members of Compu-stor since the program’s inception. They engage in key tasks such as document preparation, scanning, and data entry, which not only utilise their skills but also provide them with valuable work experience in a supportive environment.
Fostering Skills and Growth
Our collaboration focuses on tailoring tasks to align with the abilities, goals, and preferences of each individual, ensuring their experience at Compu-Stor is both positive and enriching. We work closely with Ability Works management to accommodate their diverse needs, fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
Supporting Social Procurement Principles
This initiative aligns with Social Procurement principles, advocating for a future where inclusion and diversity are fundamental values in business practices. Through our partnership, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive society by creating meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Impact and Feedback
Compu-Stor can provide its customers with tailored reporting and measurable impact. Over the last 12 months Ability Works Australia has contributed over 2,600 hours and processed almost 900,000 images.
The impact of our partnership extends beyond the workplace. We recently gathered feedback from the Ability Works team about their experiences at Compu-Stor:
- Tori says, “I like getting organised, and proving to myself that I am capable of doing so gives me a sense of pride and satisfaction.”
- Dom says, “I enjoy working on large stacks of documents and feeling satisfied when the pile is completed. When I receive an old messy folder of papers, I like to see the neat pile of papers I have accumulated after I have finished prepping.”
- Dom says, “I get along with all the employees in the workplace. The environment here is friendly. In the past, I had been concerned about working in less-than-ideal conditions. But Compu-Stor is an excellent workplace and has given me the confidence to overcome this fear.”
Our DTS Melbourne team leader, Jodi, has the pleasure of working with the Ability Works team and says, “I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude from the Ability Works team. Overall, I find working with the Ability Works team to be a rewarding experience. I am looking forward to seeing what the future will bring for the Ability Works team.”
Looking Ahead
As advocates of diversity and equality, we aim to continue our collaboration and provide more opportunities for people to gain work experience, however, we can’t do it without the support of our loyal customers.
Compu-Stor is committed to expanding our collaboration with Ability Works and would like to welcome customers that share our vision to contribute by engaging us for their digitisation needs. We recognise that the continuity of work is crucial to sustaining these types of partnerships. Even a modest contribution can make a significant difference in creating more opportunities for individuals like Alison, Dom, and Tori.
