Compu-Stor records management and storage services for Victorian government schools

Compu-Stor Continues to Support Victorian Government Schools Under Major Department of Education Records Management Contract

Compu-Stor is proud to continue supporting Victorian Government schools as the contracted provider for the Department’s statewide records management and storage program.

Following a competitive procurement process, the Department of Education sought an APROSS-certified service provider capable of delivering records collection, transport, cataloguing, storage, retrieval, sentencing and records management services across approximately 1,572 Victorian government schools and 24 corporate offices under Records Management and Storage Services Contract No. 278082.

Since commencement of the program, Compu-Stor has worked closely with schools throughout Victoria, helping preserve historically important education records while supporting schools in meeting their obligations under Department policy and Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) requirements. Schools are required to ensure hardcopy public records stored off-site are held with an Approved Public Record Office Storage Supplier (APROSS).

Significant Progress Across Victoria

The program is delivering one of the largest school records management projects ever undertaken in Victoria.

Compu-Stor has already completed collections from a substantial number of Victorian government schools, with hundreds of thousands of records boxes transferred into secure APROSS-certified facilities. Many schools have now successfully reclaimed valuable onsite storage space while ensuring that permanent and long-term records are being securely managed and preserved.

With many schools already completed and further collections scheduled, the program continues to roll out across the state as part of the Department’s broader records reform initiatives.

More Than Just the Department Program

While the Department’s program focuses on specific categories of permanent and long-term temporary records, schools often continue to manage a wide range of operational records that remain outside the scope of the Department collection program.

This includes records such as:

  • Finance and administration files
  • Human resources and personnel records
  • Local operational records
  • Records awaiting sentencing or disposal
  • Short-term retention records
  • Archived files occupying valuable school storage areas

For these records, schools can engage Compu-Stor directly to provide:

Helping Schools Create Space and Reduce Risk

Many schools use the Department collection program as an opportunity to undertake a broader review of their records management practices.

Schools frequently discover archive rooms, storerooms and portable buildings filled with records that are no longer actively used but still require management. By combining the Department collection with a wider records assessment, schools can significantly reduce onsite storage requirements, improve access to information and ensure records are managed in accordance with Department and PROV requirements.
